ABOUT KIMITH

  • Culture Shifters

    We're more than athleisure

We're more than athleisure! Our goal is to promote and encourage a heart healthy lifestyle by challenging cultural "norms" that are detrimental to our health.

We believe that with increased awareness of self, we will be able to heal physically and mentally. This is a precursor to living a heart healthy life. We understand that it all starts at the individual level to impact and create big change.

Taking care of your mental health is equally as important as taking care of your physical health. Factors such as stress, anxiety, and depression increase the risk of heart disease.

We are here to cheer, educate and provide tools, resources, and products to aid in unlocking your highest version of yourself. The heart healthy version of you.

I realized the importance of taking care of my health sooner than later when my parents were both diagnosed with heart related issues in their early 40’s.

We have to be conscious and consistent about what flows in and out of our mind and body. This ranges from what foods you eat, to what you think about, to your atmosphere. I want to help impact young adults to understand the importance of taking care of your mental and physical health early. The habits we practice now most likely will set the tone for our years to come.

Almost losing my mother to a sudden cardiac arrest has forever changed my identity. Her story will forever fuel my passion towards the elevation of KIMITH.

Throughout my mom’s recovery, I discovered so much about myself and community. I didn’t realize the trauma I experienced was also taking a toll on my physical health. I didn’t know that stress, depression, and anxiety can negatively impact the health of your heart. It’s crazy to think that emotions can affect your physical health.

I suffered from depression which I never wanted to admit to anyone. Like many of us, I had an image to uphold and suffering from depression wasn’t in the criteria. As time passed, my family and friends noticed a changed within me and they would encourage me to seek professional help. Deep in my brokenness, I still didn’t want to accept the fact that something was “wrong” with me, so I would decline. As I tell my story to more and more people, I realize that I am not alone and that it is perfectly okay to not be okay.

Taking care of your mental health is equally as important as taking care of your physical health. The negative stigmas around mental illness reinforces why people are hesitant to seek the help that they need. KIMITH is here to help break those stigmas and to normalize conversation about mental and physical health. We have to keep our heart in tip top shape and it starts with having a healthy mental and physical state.

Yours Truly,

Kianna Michele Theus
